Located on the very southern edge of the Organ mountain range, this is a
primarily bouldering use area. The rock out here is encased volcanic tuft and holds
can be very brittle. One must do some searching to find feasible routes unless
your particular forte is climbing choss. This is not to say the whole area is
treacherous, there are some really fine climbs out here. I am currently working
on an aid route on "The Smile" in preparation for a trad route.

Some info on this route

First pitch:  Using 1" angles
small hexes and small tricams gain the edge of a small flake that will appear to your
right. Set good pro before mantling up onto the top of the ledge. The pin/tricam anchor
that I've left there is for hauling only/don't use it to rap.

To be continued.....

Parking/Camping Area
Note*  This area is managed by BLM and is a WSA and archaeology site. Local
climbing ethics are very restrictive, ie no chipping, motorized drill etc. I would also
recommend for asthetic purposes that any anchors be discreet and out of plain view.
