| This area has two dihedrals on either end. Pitch lengths are singles on a 60 meter rope. I have whammered and hammered here for years so there are numerous routes that entail everything from thin fingers to tiny crimps and overhangs. There's something here for just about everyone. To get to this area, follow NM 404 from either end to mile marker 4. Enter the wired gate (be sure to close it when you are through because this area also has cattle nearby) and follow the beaten path up to the saddle. Go down into the wash and go right (west) to the obvious ridgeline. After an hour or so you will find this feature with little trouble. Just be sure to return the same way you came. The walk down the valley from the base of the climb is wrought with thorny obstacles and slippery gravelled ruts. Plus you'll miss some really fabulous views. Enjoy, but it also should be noted that the parking area is also utilized by gun enthusiasts...so leave a note on your car window indicating where you are climbing so they may adjust their backstop. |
